About us
Kpop Melbourne was established in 2015 through a mutual love of both Kpop & dance. Since then we’ve grown to become the premiere Kpop exclusive school in Melbourne, and provided tailored classes to hundreds of students.
We live and breath kpop and are heavily involved in the Melbourne scene, so you’re bound to see us at all concerts and events around town!
Leia, our founder has have been professionally trained in numerous styles including Jazz, Ballet and HipHop since childhood, and leverages her extensive experience when teaching the variety of tracks Kpop has to offer.
We are currently running group classes is a large dance complex within North Melbourne - just a stone's throw from the heart of the CBD
Everyone is welcome to join!
All of our classes are open level, which means people of all dance experience levels are welcome. From complete beginners to experienced dancers. Students of any gender are also welcome as we’re all about sharing our mutual love of k-pop!
Class numbers are set at a maximum of 20-30 so that nobody is left behind. The last thing we want is for you to be discouraged because you feel like just another face in the crowd. We begin at the start of the routine and move forward at a speed that suits everyone and encourage you to ask questions!
Our classes generally consist of students aged between 16-35 (Please note that this is an adult class and children under 16 are not permitted) and host people from all walks of life. Kpop is international and so are the people who love it! All classes are taught in English.
All fitness levels are also welcome but of course you will be working up quite a sweat as dancing is a great form of exercise! Our classes begin with a light stretching session to get you all limbered up before we start learning the routine.
Ultimately we are all about fun, authentic routines, fitness. You’re among friends with a shared love of kpop in our classes.
MEET YOUR TEACHERS
Leia
Meet your Kpop teacher!! This is one woman who can go from cutie kitten to sexy minx in the blink of an eye… she’s even been known to bust out the urban swag so you better keep your eyes on her at all times! Leia is chameleon who is classically trained in Jazz & Ballet and has been specialising in Kpop since 2015
Khanh
Khanh is a passionate K-Pop dancer with an eye for detail and lover of all things creative. She's been learning dances from the comfort of her living room since 2014, and iseager to teach you what she knows! She recently participated in the first KDM cover project. Her favorite groups are NewJeans, NU'EST, and BTS. When she isn't dancing, you can find her drawing or attempting to keep her one plant alive.
Parlum
Parlum has been into performing since 2010. He has trained professionally for over 10 in styles such as Musical Theatre, Jazz, Ballet, Hip Hop and Commercial. He has been listening and dancing to K-Pop since he was 16 with his favourite groups through the generations being SNSD, Infinite, Red Velvet, SHINee, Mamamoo & New Jeans.

What we learn
Ever attended a class where it seems like the group leaves you behind? We don’t teach that way! Every term starts with a single track which we focus on from the very start, and we all learn the real choreography from the track. Classes progress with the skills of the class, which we believe is much more inclusive to everyone – even people new to dance!

How much of the routine will I learn?
Generally, classes get through 90%- 100% of the track in a term. This can vary based on the complexity of the track’s choreography, the length of the track and the skills of the class, but if we see a track which is looking like it'll take longer, we'll tell you.
And yes, beginners have completed an entire track in a term!
Why does this happen? Because we’re teaching authentic moves, it can sometimes take a lot longer than expected to learn an entire track in just 7 sessions!

How many are in each class?
Too many people in a small studio can feel cramped and make class a whole lot less fun. Terms are capped at 30 students so we can give personalised feedback, and so you can actually see what's going on in class!
